I'm going for a more multimedia feel (if you can't tell) to keep up the pace of the postings, given that I can't put up as many songs as before. That and making posts a little shorter (though apparently not this one). Still should be good though.
First up, something different and completely unrelated to the feel of the post:
Sorry about the delay in the post, I've been kind of busy as of late (new, kind of cheesy track in the works). That said, I've come across a few good tunes casually over the past week. For whatever reason, all but one of the items happen to involve A-Trak (the brother of one of Chromeo's members, Kanye's personal DJ, and one of the hottest DJ's right now) in some way. Definitely check out his blog, and his A-Trak TV vids.
No trance part 2 yet; this post is going to have a disco/new disco bent. House music started out essentially as disco that was accidentally sped up, so this is a bit of a throw back to the beginning of a lot of electronic music. That said, only one song in the post is actual disco; the rest are from the new wave of disco-y house music that's been coming out of late. Interesting fact: the reason almost all disco songs have that shh-shh-shh hi-hat bit is because somebody figured out that those really high frequencies are attenuated when you're on cocaine. Learn something new everyday.
Also, holler at Greece, yet another new country for the blog.
Hold On - Holy Ghost! Holy Ghost! comes from DFA, the label out of Brooklyn with some good disco-tinged artists on their list (and some completely different ones like LCD Soundsystem). This song has a funky beat, a piano bit that feels a bit disco, and a wobbly synth that adds the kick. Hold On - YouTube Hold On - Download
Slip Away (Steve Angello & The Young Punx Remix) - Howard Jones & Mohito Even more from the Swedish House Mafia, this is admittedly more of a house song than anything else. But, it does have that happy disco feel to it. Slip Away - YouTube Slip Away - Download (Rapidshare)
You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) - Sylvester Actual disco finally. This has all the main bits of a disco song: the strings, funky bass, piano riff, old-school synths, and, of course, the hi-hat. That and it's probably the best disco song ever made by a transvestite. I mean what? Oh and Surkin likes it too. Note: Ignore the first and last 10 seconds of the YouTube video. You Make Me Feel - YouTube You Make Me Feel - Download
Young Folks (Punks Jump Up Special Disco Mix) - Peter, Bjorn & John feat. Victoria Bergsman The super popular alternative song with a disco remix. Not all too different, the remix has a funkier bass and a new beat. Young Folks - YouTube Young Folks - Download
And, a song with nothing to do with disco:
Put It On You - Missy Elliot feat. Pharell and Teyana Taylor This is the newest leak off of Missy's new album. Starts off with a straight up B-more sound with the pumping kicks, but drops into the more melodic jazzy feel you expect from Pharell (about a minute in). The pig latin rhymes aren't great, but luckily there aren't many of them. Put It On You - YouTube Put It On You - Download
NEXT POST: Most likely trance part 2. And, one of the new Gorillaz demos.
So my previous post on the Swedish House Mafia disappeared, and I have no idea why. If anyone knows anything about this, please let me know. UPDATE: I was able to recover all of the links, so enjoy. Sorry that the formatting is not as nice as usual.

TEXT OF POST (thanks to the e-mail subscription):
Vlkomnande till... Sweden
A little bit of explanation: the Swedish House Mafia is not post-minimal-breakbeat music from Sweden. I promise. It's actually a group of Swedish house DJ's: Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello, and Axwell. It also used to include Eric Prydz (AKA Pryda. Don't worry, he's also going to be in this post) until he moved to London. All of their productions are upbeat house tracks - Eric Prydz was the one who dropped Call On Me - and they all have a similar style. Oh and they also love to get together in pairs and name themselves something else.
Also, keep up spreading the word. Interest in the blog is definitely picking up thanks to you guys. UPDATE: I fixed commenting so you don't need to be registered somehow to leave one.
I have to admit, this might as well be a Know Your Genre because all of these songs are older, but whatever, it's all good.
Tell Me Why - Supermode A remix of Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat by Steve Angello and Axwell (Supermode). No way I could do a post on these guys and not include it, this song is huge. Think Call On Me with 80's vocals. Tell Me Why - YouTube Breathe (Instrumental) - Mode Hookers A tune from Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso (Mode Hookers). Starts off with a repetitive beat, but quickly drops off into sweeping strings. Worth it just for that bit. Breathe - YouTube Breathe - Download
Nice (Eric Prydz Radio Mix) - Duran Duran A great remix from Prydz that injects a ton of energy into Duran Duran's original. Another note: all four of the Mafia are amazing remixers (just check out Axwell's remix of Hard-Fi's Hard To Beat or Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso's remix of Hard-Fi's Suburban Knights). Nice - YouTube
Feel The Vibe (Instrumental Mix) - Axwell Super house tune from Axwell, who probably makes the brightest sounding songs of the four. Made for clubbing on a beach. Feel The Vibe - YouTube
AND
Nothing to do with the Swedish House Mafia, but...
I'm Not Alone (Extended Mix) - Calvin Harris The real version of I'm Not Alone finally dropped. If you haven't heard it or downloaded it yet (see Fancy Some Euphoric? post in Feb.), do it now. I'm Not Alone - Download
NEXT POST: May be a little more of a wait then usual. Maybe a normal post?
