Sorry about the delay in the post, I've been kind of busy as of late (new, kind of cheesy track in the works). That said, I've come across a few good tunes casually over the past week. For whatever reason, all but one of the items happen to involve A-Trak (the brother of one of Chromeo's members, Kanye's personal DJ, and one of the hottest DJ's right now) in some way. Definitely check out his blog, and his A-Trak TV vids.
This is going to be a pretty diverse post. A little bit of alternative, a little bit of different hip hop, and a little bit of Ed Banger. Oh and there's even a trance song thrown in. Also this blog apparently has readers in the U.S., Canada, the Czech Republic, Germany, and France. Keep spreading it around, it's working out. (And happy birthday to a certain someone. Holler).
Lights Out - Santigold This song sounds like it could be by the Killers: it definitely has that alternative feel and is different from anything else I've put up. Gifted (feat. Kanye West, Santigold, and Lykke Li) - N.A.S.A. Gifted is a leak from N.A.S.A. who seem to acquire current stars to put on their tracks like they're baseball cards. A bit hard to explain but it's sort of like dirty, very electronic hip-hop. Gifted - YouTube Gifted - Download
It's Not Over Yet - Klaxons / Not Over Yet - Grace The first song is a cover of the second. From Klaxons (see above pic; it's hard finding a pic of them that's not been overused) this has the Nu-Rave vibe (which is basically any alternative that you can dance to). I've included the original trance version, which is a classic song in it's own right... and a lot better and modern sounding then the video would suggest. Note: there is also a dubstep remix of the Klaxons song from Skream which I may put up later (so many remixes). Fool For Love (Sebastian Remix) - Das Pop The beginning is a great bit, with right-on piano and strings. It quickly turns into Ed Banger fare with all the chops and energy. Ironically, the original sounds nothing like the remix; even the beginning is completely different (and a lot better). The download is shorter than the video. I'm gonna use this blog to spread new music/stuff you may not have heard of (probably a lot of the stuff), holler at friends with stuff coming out, and most importantly, hype myself up. I'm going to try to keep it to stuff you should listen to, and keep out stuff that's just there because it's weird and shows that I know more about post-minimal-breakbeat music from Sweden than you do (less art house music in the basement). That said, I'm gonna try to find fresh stuff you won't find on itunes top 100 and bring you the best of other blogs. When I can, I'm gonna try to give you a youtube link, and a download link.
