Can You Feel It?

Remember when Britney Spears was hot? Really hot (I couldn't resist the pic)? Even though those days are over, her new songs have really been picked up by the top remixers out there (see Bring The House Down post in April). Case in point, check out the Villains remix later in this post. Also, sorry about the lack of consistency in posting, I've just had a lot to do lately and a few gigs to keep me busy. I think I am going to move to a less frequent posting schedule (twice a week? weekly?) and just try to stuff each post; subscribe by e-mail to hear about a new post as soon as it drops. Also, I'm running out of good genres, so my genre of day is going to be on a break for a bit.

Leave The World Behind (Barletta Edit) - Swedish House Mafia & Laidback Luke
I would move to Sweden to join these guys (definitely a requirement as they quasi-booted out the stellar Eric Prydz/Pryda for moving to London); it's hard to match their knack for monster house hits that they just keep pumping out, along with great remixes. This is a nice edit, that's been circulating the blogs (Hypemachine stream, look for the play button at the bottom right).

Barney Rubble

Rubble? Trouble? Get it? Moving on, this post is going to have a little bit of an urban vibe. Also, sorry for not putting up brand-spanking new songs lately (with the exception of the new Calvin Harris which will be put up in this post too), but my music crawls of late haven't really turned up anything great. That said, all of the songs included in the post are relatively new. UPDATE: I just realized this post is a little longer than most, no worries.

Against All Odds (feat. Kano) - Chase & Status
Chase & Status are actually a drums 'n' bass duo, but this track has a funky, fast hip-hop feel to it. Kano (another Grime mainstay) drops the fitting rhymes. I've included the official video as the YouTube link because it's a cool video, but you do have to wait about 40 seconds until the actual song drops in.

Kid Cudi actually lays it down on this Crookers track. If you liked Day 'N' Nite from the Kid (or the Crookers remix: see More T-Pain... post in Feb.), you'll probably like this.

Green Light (Remix) - Rick Ross
Pretty much the same as the original from Andre 3000, but with Rick Ross rapping in the beginning. I thought the original was missing some rap, and this fills it in nicely (another rapping remix of it: ZP Boy Wonder's "Touch You." Holler).

So I thought I would try something a little bit different with this post and give you all some good hip hop remixes and mash-ups. Also, I'll try to get back to putting in newer songs (with the exception of Know Your Genre); I've just been trying to spread some good older stuff.

And, now the blog is the third most popular google entry under "run-bpm" too. Score.

The remix by Ratatat off their second mixtape (which I'm told you can get for free online somewhere). Has the guitars and organs anyone who knows Ratatat would recognize, plus hip hop beats. Falling In Shadows - Mick Boogie & Terry Urban
Off of the Viva La Hova mixtape, this is a mash-up of Jay-Z and Coldplay. A bunch of producers collaborated on the mixtape, and almost every song on it is great. I've included the link to the main site for the mixtape, hit it up (it's free too). Other good ones include the mash-ups of Clocks and Trouble.

I'm gonna use this blog to spread new music/stuff you may not have heard of (probably a lot of the stuff), holler at friends with stuff coming out, and most importantly, hype myself up. I'm going to try to keep it to stuff you should listen to, and keep out stuff that's just there because it's weird and shows that I know more about post-minimal-breakbeat music from Sweden than you do (less art house music in the basement). That said, I'm gonna try to find fresh stuff you won't find on itunes top 100 and bring you the best of other blogs. When I can, I'm gonna try to give you a youtube link, and a download link.
